20 WRW Grenache
William Rose’s travels included exploits in the Spice Trade and close calls with Shanghai dens in the Pacic Northwest. These experiences taught him the nuances of subtlety and the elegance of grace. Rose’s 2011 Syrah epitomises Southern Oregon’s ability to illuminate the true vibrance and grace of Syrah.
VINEYARD: Mae's Vineyard, Applegate Valley, OR. Harvest date: 26 October, Brix 22 Deg
WINEMAKING: A cooler growing season resulted in a long hang time allowing fantastic avour development and tannin maturation. The handpicked fruit was destemmed, crushed to fermenter, and following a two day coldsoak was fermented at a relatively cool 75-80F temperature regime.Time on skins totalled 16 days. Post press, the wine was matured in 3-5yr old French Oak for 3 1/2 years. The resulting wine is soft and supple and classically Northern Rhone in style.
TASTING NOTES: If you like classic Rhone-style Syrah, you’ll love this Southern Oregon beauty. Lean and rened, this wine opens with black cherry and cinnamon, leading to a lively mid-palate, dancing with spice, and nishing with soft, supple tannins. After the rst sip, you’ll be transported to a candlelit bistro in the Rhone. Pair with braised lamb, stued bell peppers, or aged cheeses.
